An Excellent American Collage Artist Known As Robert Rauschenberg
The American collage artist and printmaker Robert Rauschenberg played around openly with avant-garde ideas and methods. Rauschenberg’s wild ingenuity and honest eclecticism were tempered by his nearly unerring sense of color and design. In 1947, while in the United States Marines he found out his skills for sketching and fascination with the artistic representation of every day items and people. Soon after departing the Marine Corps, Rauschenberg studied fine art in Paris.
