An Excellent American Collage Artist Known As Robert Rauschenberg
The American collage artist and printmaker Robert Rauschenberg played around openly with avant-garde ideas and methods. Rauschenberg’s wild ingenuity and honest eclecticism were tempered by his nearly unerring sense of color and design. In 1947, while in the United States Marines he found out his skills for sketching and fascination with the artistic representation of every day items and people. Soon after departing the Marine Corps, Rauschenberg studied fine art in Paris. In less than a year he moved to North Carolina, where the country’s most visionary artists were teaching at Black Mountain College. He studied under Josef Albers, who emphasized layout as being a practice, and Rauschenberg felt he wanted this kind of training. He mentioned that Albers has been the educator most significant to his own development. There Rauschenberg began what was to be an artistic revolution. Shortly, North Carolina country living would seem modest and he eventually left for New York to make it as a painter. Despite the chaos and pleasure of city life Rauschenberg realized the total degree of just what he can provide for painting. Continue reading
Robert Rauschenberg: One Of The Finest American Collage Artists In The World
Robert Rauschenberg was one of the many American collage artists who became prominent during the fifties crossover right from Abstract Expressionism to Pop Art. Rauschenberg is known for his “Combines”, wherein non-traditional items and things were being used in revolutionary combinations. Rauschenberg was both a painter and a sculptor, but he also toiled with taking pictures, printmaking, papermaking, and performance. Rauschenberg’s profession shows more about the New York art local community. His mindset toward the means of art expanded to media, men and women, everything. He opened art to: engineers, socialites, All-About-Eve personnel, political figures, industry unionists, dancers, instant collectors, Utopians, scientists, foundation swingers, art groupies, and every one rubbed shoulders with all the incongruous aspects in Rauschenberg’s artwork. This abundant mixture seemed to confirm the desire populists often possess: that the limitations of fine art are breaking down. Continue reading

How Art Collage Could Be Healing
Healing through art collage is a term which is applied to any kind of art form employed in recovery and is also a comparatively new concept in Western culture. Only within the past twenty years have doctors, therapists, as well as other medical types started to acknowledge and research the therapeutic effects of creating art upon physical, emotional, and psychological health. As reported by Cathy Malchiodi, in her own book “The Art Therapy Sourcebook”, art therapy is “…based on the idea that the creative process of art making is healing and life enhancing, and that it is a effective form of conversation. It makes use of the creative process to enhance growth, self-expression, emotional reparation, issue resolution and transformation.” Art healing serves as a hands-on, self-help approach to overcoming challenges in a person’s life. It’s not sufficient to browse articles and reviews or even novels on art healing, you must participate in the creative process for it to be beneficial. Continue reading
